Welcome to My Blog:

Sharing 30+ Years of Industrial Expertise

Discover MI Tech Services on Udemy!, and on YouTube!

Hello and welcome to the M.I. Tech Services Automation Blog! My name is Stephen Marshall, and I’m excited to launch this blog as a space where electrical engineers, electricians, and technicians can gather to learn, share, and grow their skills in automation and electrical systems.

A Little About Me

With over 30 years of experience working with industrial equipment, including 25+ years at a manufacturing site and 5 years as a contractor and consultant, I’ve had the privilege of diving deep into the world of PLC programming, HMI systems, and automation control. Whether it’s integrating new systems or troubleshooting complex electrical issues, I’ve seen a lot.

My journey has taken me from troubleshooting high-speed manufacturing equipment to mentoring technicians and writing technical documentation. Along the way, I’ve developed a passion for not just solving problems, but also for sharing what I’ve learned.

Why This Blog?

This blog is an extension of my ongoing mission to help those who work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), electrical systems, and automation technologies. Whether you’re just getting started in the field or you’re a seasoned technician looking to sharpen your skills, you’re in the right place.

Through this platform, I’ll be sharing practical insights, tips, and tutorials focused on PLCs and PLC programming.

Staying Safe in the Field

While it’s exciting to dive into these technologies, I want to emphasize the importance of safety. Working with electrical systems comes with significant hazards. Only qualified personnel who understand the risks and proper safety procedures should perform this work. Always be aware of the potential dangers—electrical shocks, flashes, and unpredictable machine movements can lead to serious injury or worse.

What’s Next?

I am working on the first few blog posts right now. Very soon you will see a series of blogs about PLC basics.

Meanwhile In addition to my posts, I’ve also developed online courses available on the Udemy platform. These courses are designed to give you hands-on skills you can use in your day-to-day work. If you’re interested in learning more about PLC basics, PLC ladder programming, or even building your own DIY PLC trainer project, be sure to check these out!

Or, check out my videos on YouTube!

I’m thrilled to have you here, and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences and expertise with you. Feel free to leave comments, ask questions, and share your own insights. Let’s build a community where we can all learn from one another and grow in our careers.

Stay safe, and let’s get started!
